the european constitution in verse
"If a political constitution for the European Union is impossible, let there at least be a lyrical one!"
Under the wings of Passa Porta, the Brussels Poetry Collective – a network of urban poets (Geert van Istendael, Manza, Laurence Vielle and Xavier Queipo), writing in a variety of languages and styles in the capital of Europe – took the lead. In addition to writing their own legislative rhymes, they invited contributions from colleagues across the continent. The book is more than a frivolous reworking of a political fiasco. It book puts the debate on the foundations of Europe squarely where it belongs: in the public sphere of free and involved citizens.
With contributions by poets Eugenijus Alisanka, Clare Azzopardi, Faraj Bayrakdar, Petr Borkovec, Jacques Darras, Mircea Dinescu, Franzobel, Antonio Gamoneda, Tsjêbbe Hettinga, Chenjerai Hove, Gerrit Komrij, Manza, Kamran Mir Hazar, José Ovejero, Xavier Queipo, Louise Rosengreen, Fabio Scotto, Ales Steger, Jüri Talvet, Geert Van Istendael, David Van Reybrouck, Peter Vermeersch, Laurence Vielle, Torild Wardenaer, Salem Zenia.
